John Cage's Four Minutes and Thirty Three Seconds [

[pulmonary_blue]
4′33″ (Four minutes, thirty-three seconds) is a three-movement composition by American avant-garde composer John Cage (1912–1992). It was composed in 1952 for any instrument (or combination of instruments), and the score instructs the performer not to play the instrument during the entire duration of the piece. Although commonly perceived as "four minutes thirty-three seconds of silence", the piece actually consists of the sounds of the environment that the listeners hear while it is performed. Over the years, 4′33″ became Cage's most famous and most controversial composition.

Alright, before you press play, I would advise you to turn off your television/music and simply listen to the extraneous sounds in your environment, as the artist intended. The video itself is enjoyable in that you are essentially watching a concert hall full of people doing nothing while they watch an entire orchestra doing nothing. There are even page turns as the "movements" progress.

In 1951, Cage visited the anechoic chamber at Harvard University. An anechoic chamber is a room designed in such a way that the walls, ceiling and floor absorb all sounds made in the room, rather than reflecting them as echoes. They are also externally sound-proofed. Cage entered the chamber expecting to hear silence, but he wrote later, "I heard two sounds, one high and one low. When I described them to the engineer in charge, he informed me that the high one was my nervous system in operation, the low one my blood in circulation." (there has been some skepticism as to the accuracy of this)

Whatever the truth of these explanations, Cage had gone to a place where he expected total silence, and yet heard sound. "Until I die there will be sounds. And they will continue following my death. One need not fear about the future of music." The realization as he saw it of the impossibility of silence led to the composition of 4'33″.

Cage has stated that 4′33″ is, in his opinion, his most important work.

Okay.. so after having looking through their site and this one - all I have found is K&B stuff but nothing that I can get that's just FT related.
What I mean is: They updated for Kitchen & Bath, but.. I don't have that. I only have Freetime - and I'm looking to make default replacements; if I were to get the latest updated version of SimPe that's updated for K&B would it not work out?

I'd hate to spend hours in that program only to find that what I made doesn't show up or something like last time.

For the first time, Bush revealed a personal way in which he has tried to acknowledge the sacrifice of soldiers and their families.

I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf,” he said. “I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.”

Bush said he made that decision after the August 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, which killed Sergio Vieira de Mello, the top U.N. official in Iraq and the organization’s high commissioner for human rights.

“I remember when de Mello, who was at the U.N., got killed in Baghdad as a result of these murderers taking this good man's life,” he said. “I was playing golf — I think I was in central Texas — and they pulled me off the golf course and I said, ‘It's just not worth it anymore to do.’"

Dear guests, just because you request a room with a king doesn't mean you're guaranteed a room with a king.  I don't care how long you've had to drive to get here or what kind of day you have had, I can't get you a king. Either take a room with two beds for tonight and we'll try to get you into a room with a king tomorrow, or go to another hotel.

A little while ago, I made a post here asking about programs that captured screencaps, and loved the feedback I recieved.

However, after trying Ifranview, Gadwin PrintScreen, and Screenhunter 5, all three haven't worked properly. I end up getting total blackness for the screencaps. Now I did try and search out an issue regarding this, but I'm not having much luck...

Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it? :(

Mild deli suck [

I was at the Woolworths deli counter today, to order some diced bacon. I had number 35, and they were only up to 29, so I was just standing and watching the staff serving the other customers. There were only 2 people on, so things were going kind of slowly, but they got up to 34, which was a guy standing near me. The guy serving him looked like he couldn't care less, I noticed that straight away. The customer ordered 500g of something, I don't know what, but the guy plonked 430g of it on the scales and asked if it was ok. The customer said it was, and then ordered a kilo of bacon. The guy (while sniffing and snorting like he had a cold) started working on the bacon. He put it on the scales, and it was only 700 or so grams. He then chucked a few more pieces in, dropping two pieces on various other meats as he did so, and it came to 830g. He looked at the customer and asked if it was ok, and the customer said yes. and moved away.

Realising he was going to serve me next, as the other staff member was still busy, I leaned over to my husband and whispered "I'm going to make sure he gives me what I ask for." Because hey, if it's up to 50g under or over for something like a kilo, who cares? But being too lazy to make sure it's even near the mark is not cool. So, I order 100g of diced bacon. The guy meanders over to the diced things, and stares for a moment. "This one?" he says, pointing to the only diced bacon on the shelf. "Yep" I replied. He grabbed a handful, chucked it on the scales, and it flashed 144g, but before I could say anything, he whisked it into the paper and chucked it on the counter, before turning to talk to his co-worker. I tried to look to see what his name was, because if I could find a comment form I was going to say something, but he talked to her for ages whilst standing sideways, so I couldn't see it without looking obvious.

Mild, I know, but it's annoying, especially as the other people I've encountered there have been ridiculously cheerful, chatty and accurate.

I just heard about this movie [Cannibal Holocaust] and now I really want to see it. I've heard it's pretty messed up, and despite the fact that it makes me sound insane, I reeeally want to see it now. Does anyone know where I can download it/watch it online?
